Grain Producers Australia

Plant Health Australia (PHA) is the national coordinator of the government-industry partnership for plant biosecurity in Australia. As a not-for-profit company, PHA services the needs of its Members and the growers they represent, while independently advocating on behalf of Australia's plant biosecurity system.

PHA, in partnership with Grains Producers Australia, proudly facilitates the collaborative development of tools, information and networks that reduce the potential impacts of pests, diseases and weeds on Australia's grains industry.

PHA efforts help grain growers by:

• minimising plant pest impacts
• safeguarding the livelihood of producers
• enhancing Australia's plant health status
• assisting trade
• supporting the sustainability and profitability of plant industries and the producers and communities that rely upon them
• preserving environmental health and amenity

PHA assists government and the grains industry with biosecurity through:

• activities as custodian of the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed
• pest threat and risk identification
• cost beneficial post-border surveillance, monitoring, detection and awareness programs
• development of biosecurity measures at the national, regional and farm level
• development of a comprehensive and effective diagnostic network both national and international
• effective incursion response programs
• gap analysis and R&D development to support plant health awareness and communication activities
