2GB RURAL NEWS | Farmers fighting biosecurity tax

50 Aussie farm groups are uniting to fight the federal government's proposed biosecurity tax due to come in on the 1st of July this year.

The groups, representing the views of tens of thousands of producers, have issued a letter to the Prime Minster calling for the tax to be scrapped.

Under the proposed plan producers will be taxed an extra 10 per cent biosecurity levy.

Rural Reporter Georgia Kondek caught up with Grain Producers Australia Chief Executive Colin Bettles who says the government just isn’t listening.
