ADVOCACY AND RELATIONSHIPS - GPA FORGES STRONG PRESENCE IN CANBERRA

GPA members were able to use their time following the GPA Policy Council meeting in Canberra this month to meet with a number of federal representatives and advocate for the interests of grain growers.

Discussions focused on GPA's strong position against the proposed Biosecurity Tax, but also included some state-specific issues such as labour sourcing, mouse management and crop protection product access.

While in Canberra, GPA representatives were also able to attend the GrainGrowers Grain Sustainability Forum to help collaborate and shape their joint initiative with GPA, the Grain Sustainability Framework.

GPA representatives also had the opportunity to attend a Parliamentary Friends of Brewing event in representation of Australian barley producers who play a critical role in the brewing process.
