COUNTRYMAN | WA grain growers urged to complete autonomous farm machinery survey

A survey that will help guide adoption of autonomous farm machinery as an industry-led initiative is closing on November 8.

Grain Producers Australia is seeking feedback via a five-minute online survey on the types of autonomous machinery they may use or be aware of.

Countryman reported that the survey forms a part of GPA's partnership with the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia and the Society of Precision Agriculture Australia that was renewed for a further three years in June this year.

GPA southern region director Andrew Weidemann said it would help inform growers’ needs and concerns, as well as provide opportunities for education, as industry groups collaborate on the safe and effective roll-out of the technology in Australia.

“The first stage of this work was developing the code of practice, which outlines roles and responsibilities for everyone along the network, from designers to owners and operators,” he said.

“Now we’re working to understand how our industry can move towards using the technology on their own terms and with their needs in mind.”
