Strong and unrelenting pushback from producers around the country has succeeded in forcing the Federal Government to scrap its contentious biosecurity tax in the Senate.
This message highlighted that growers already significantly contribute to the biosecurity system.
FarmOnline spoke to a number of producer groups including Cattle Australia, Australian Fresh Produce Alliance, WoolProducers and Grain Producers Australia, which led a strong advocacy campaign against the biosecurity tax proposal.

GPA Chief Executive Colin Bettles said it was a positive for producers that the fundamentally flawed policy was scrapped.
"The unfairness and inequity of the legislation was apparent to the Coalition, Greens and independents who voted against it and that's why it was defeated on the floor of parliament," he said.
"We will continue to work to optimise the value of levies paid by producers, not just for biosecurity but for all aspects of their businesses."
