The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is under performing in data availability, failing to meet self-prescribed maintenance targets of assets.
This was revealed by an Australian National Audit Officer (ANAO) report, which also warned that this would heighten the risk of system outages.

Farm Weekly reported that some of the critical information streams such as flood warnings, coastal sea levels, and marine information had been reportedly sub-par in quality and availability.
Grain Producers Australia Chief Executive Colin Bettles said a commitment by BOM to implement the four recommendations made in the ANAO report was a positive.
"Grain growers rely a lot on the information they receive from the BOM and any measures that can be implemented to improve that is a positive for us," Mr Bettles said.
