GPA WEBINAR - YOUR GUIDE TO A STRONG APVMA PARAQUAT-DIQUAT SUBMISSION

Grain Producers Australia is holding an online information session to help groups and individuals develop their submissions to the paraquat and diquat chemical review.

The session on Thursday, September 26 from 7.30pm AEST will focus on the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) review of these chemicals and guide participants how to best make their case for the good of the agricultural industries reliant on these chemistries.

GPA’s Interim Chief Executive Pete Arkle will lead the session with GPA Southern Region Director and Victorian grain producer Andrew Weidemann.

Together they will provide guidance and resources for building submissions and highlight useful ways growers can contribute relevant information from their own operation to inform their responses.

“As the country’s statutory agency responsible for chemical regulation and management, the APVMA’s scope for review is tied to a narrow scope of statutory criteria,” Mr Arkle said.

“GPA is acutely aware that growers need these chemistries to support their operations and there is a lot of emotion and angst tied to this chemical review.

“We want to make sure growers and industry are equipped with the right information to have their views heard as a part of this process.”

Submissions to the APVMA chemical review of paraquat and diquat proposed regulatory decisions closes on October 29, 2024.
