QUEENSLAND COUNTRY LIFE | Growers call for fall armyworm chemical fix for cereal crops

Queensland growers have been left in the lurch for chemical control options for fall armyworm this summer crop harvest due to slow permit approvals from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines (APVMA).

Grain Producers Australia southern grower director and research development and extension spokesperson, Andrew Weidemann said a permit request was made by GPA to help fill this chemical access gap.

AgForce policy director Ruth Thompson said there was increasing potential for fall armyworm to impact oat crops and increasingly have a more widespread impact into the winter cropping season.
