Discussions about farmers' right-to-repair their own equipment have been on the table in Canberra recently, with Treasurer Jim Chalmers flagging the worth of potential reforms.
The agricultural right to repair conversation centres around farmers and independent technicians having access to diagnostics and manuals to service machinery, rather than having to go through original equipment manufacturers and their dealers.
Stock Journal reported that the topic was reignited and spoke to Grain Producers Australia Southern Region Director and Yorke Peninsula grower Mark Schilling.
He said there would be huge productivity grains from fixing the right-to-repair issue in Australia, especially avoiding hold-ups at busy times like harvest.
