Harry Pye, a mixed cropping and livestock farmer from Walgett, NSW, has used a 24-metre boom robot for spraying over the past year, which has significantly cut chemical costs and freed up labour for other tasks.
The Weekly Times highlighted that Grains Producers Australia (GPA), SPAA and Tractor Machinary Association of Australia have been working togther on the development on an industry wide code of practice.
GPA RD&E spokesperson Andrew Weidemann highlighted the benefits of autonomous farm machinery and the code of practice.
“The whole premise is that it’s going to improve the outcomes for a lot of people, particularly in remote and regional areas, and of course insurance is associated with the code process as well.”
