GPA Chair Barry Large tells WA Country Hour host Belinda Varischetti there has been a clear message sent by Lower House Federal MPs against the Labor Government's proposed Biosecurity Protection Levy.
The BPL will now be the subject of a Senate Inquiry this month and Mr Large confirmed the GPA's stance remained unchanged.
He reiterated that there had been no effort by the Government to recognise existing contribution systems to biosecurity measures within the industry or heed concerns that funds raised by the new tax would feed Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries consolidated revenue, rather than biosecurity initiatives.
